Clifton Brooks Holland, 84, died Monday, November 19, 2007 at his residence. The Tattnall County native was a longtime resident of Savannah. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Petty Officer in the United States Navy aboard the Destroyer USS Izard DD589 from 1943 through 1945. He was awarded 13 major battle stars, two silver and 3 bronze stars, one bronze oak leaf cluster and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was a member of American Legion Post 184 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4392. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and retired after 30 years as an electronics technician with several Savannah companies.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen O. Holland.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne C. and Zellie Holland, of Savannah, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy J. and Richard Brigdon, of Savannah, and Rhonda L. and David Burke, of Savannah, brother, Hugh Holland, of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Kathleen N. Holland, Ashley Jo Holland, Cody Brooks Holland and Mary Elizabeth, Buddy and Sarah Brigdon, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Tuesday, November 20, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial: Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
